Interpretive Volunteer
Osprey House Environmental Centre
Griffin, Queensland
Part-time volunteer position (i.e. unpaid)

Situated on the banks of the Pine River Estuary, Osprey House is a community resource centre for recreation and learning. Interpretive volunteers meet and greet visitors to the centre, and provide guided walks for school groups and for the public. Volunteers are required to work one half-day every 1-2 weeks, from 10am - 1.00pm / 1:00pm - 4:00pm.

Key duties

  • Meet and greet members of the public
  • Provide free guided walks to the public
  • Setting and packing up interpretive display resources and equipment

Key selection criteria

  • Interest in environment, conservation issues
  • Interest in environmental interpretation
  • Interest in working with children and the general community
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Punctuality and reliability
  • Enthusiasm

Desirable skills/attributes

  • An interest in the environment and the desire to contribute to environmental
    awareness
  • Previous experience is not required, as training will be provided, however
  • Experience in environmental education, interpretation and/or eco-tourism
    would be advantageous

Volunteers are required to apply for a Blue Card.
